Photo by Rob Stark.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Follow the pretty pink lanterns to a terrific new place in the Funk Zone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The neighborhood marketplace home to <a href=\"http:\/\/tygertygersb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tyger Tyger<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dartcoffeeco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dart Coffee Co.<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.monkeyshinesb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monkeyshine<\/a> is finally open, and this yummy addition to the waterfront area was well worth the wait!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acmehospitality.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s4\">Acme Hospitality<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelarksb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Lark<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/loquitasb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loquita<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.luckypennysb.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lucky Penny<\/a> fame, to name just a few) has created a collective that&#8217;s been a hit from day one.\u00a0 The three-concept venue includes\u00a0<span class=\"s4\">Tyger Tyger,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u00a0a\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">fast-fine restaurant <\/span>with Thai-Vietnamese influenced dishes; Monkeyshine,<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> with <\/span><span class=\"s5\">exotic soft serve ice cream and popsicles;\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">a<\/span><span class=\"s1\">nd local roaster <span class=\"s4\">Dart Coffee Co.,<\/span>\u00a0to keep everyone caffeinated and happy,. The marketplace is located\u00a0 at 121 E. Yanonali St., on the corner of <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Gray Avenue near the <a href=\"https:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2017\/10\/the-arts-funds-2017-fun-raiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arts Fund<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p12\"><span class=\"s1\">It&#8217;s hard to miss the hundreds of illuminated pink lanterns on the interior and exterior ceilings of this pretty new food hall. Large windows peek into the building and bring all-day sunshine into the airy room. Photo by Rob Stark.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p12\"><span class=\"s1\">Tyger Tyger and sister operation Monkeyshine are led by Santa Barbara born-and-raised <a href=\"https:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2018\/10\/chefs-table-thai-coconut-mussels-from-tyger-tyger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chef Daniel Palaima<\/a> who returned home from Chicago to lead the team after stints with internationally acclaimed, award-winning chefs. Bold Thai and Vietnamese inspired dishes we&#8217;ve tried so far include melt-in-your-mouth\u00a0Weeping Brisket with coconut sticky rice; almost-too-pretty-to-eat\u00a0<\/span>Shrimp Summer Rolls; Spicy Pork Larb Salad (we tried the impossible &#8220;pork&#8221; meatless version and it was amazing); Octopus Salad with glass noodles and nouc cham; <span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">and<\/span> Curried Noodles with braised pork and fermented mustard greens, among others. The Funk Zone\u2019s own small-lot specialty coffee roaster, Dart Coffee offers espresso drinks, cold brew, nitro cold brew and locally-made kombucha. Fair trade organic beans are roasted onsite daily and retail coffee is available in addition to an extensive menu of espresso drinks\u2014try the Corena Cortado for the most delicious cinnamon churro-like treat, or the June Bug for a sweet kiss of lavender with your java\u2014and specialty loose leaf organic teas alongside locally made pastries and bites. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p12\"><span class=\"s1\">Dart Coffee Co. is owned and operated by husband and wife team <a href=\"https:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2016\/09\/portfolio-ten-painters-in-paradise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erika Carter<\/a> Dart (a beloved local artist) and David Dart (a beloved local dentist) who have lived and worked in the Funk Zone for more than 16 years. This location marks their first retail shop, bringing ethical craft-roasted coffee to the public, sourcing only the finest organic, fair-trade coffee beans from small-lot indigenous farmers who share their vision.
