My husband and I recently took the tour and had such a lovely day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">First of all, the sustainable estate winery and vineyard is gorgeous, with sweeping views as far as the eye can see. Believe me when I say that Zaca Mesa&#8217;s famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winemag.com\/buying-guide\/zaca-mesa-2013-black-bear-block-syrah-santa-ynez-valley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Black Bear Block Syrah<\/a>\u2014the oldest Syrah block in the Central Coast\u2014is even more delicious when you&#8217;re sipping among the vines!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Zaca Mesa served as the training ground for many great winemakers. <a href=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2017\/04\/santa-barbara-vintners-spring-weekend-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ken Brown<\/a> was Zaca Mesa\u2019s first winemaker (he later started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byronwines.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Byron<\/a> in Santa Maria Valley). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ojaivineyard.com\/Adam's%20Bio.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adam Tolmach<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB10000872396390443759504577631710173064478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Clendenen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2012\/05\/from-biodynamic-vineyard-to-brilliance-in-a-glass-the-evolution-from-grape-to-wine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob Lindquist<\/a> worked at Zaca Mesa before venturing out on their own to start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ojaivineyard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ojai Vineyard<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aubonclimat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Au Bon Climat<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qupe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qup\u00e9<\/a>, respectively. If that&#8217;s not quite in your budget, or time constraints, Zaca Mesa also offers a\u00a0<b>Winery Tour &amp; Tasting,\u00a0<\/b>where guests\u00a0can enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the winery and production facility in an hour-long experience that spotlights Zaca Mesa\u2019s history\u00a0and the winery\u2019s annual journey from vine to bottle.
