It continues to fulfill its original destiny as a mercantile through the retail portion of General Store, which includes a 2,000-bottle wine shop. The restaurant side of the business takes its name from historical figure <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.com\/news\/2015\/aug\/18\/did-zorro-once-live-santa-barbara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salomon Pico<\/a>, an infamous local bandit said to have been part of the inspiration behind the legend of Zorro.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_94840\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94840\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-94840\" src=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/charcut.jpg\" alt=\"Housemade charcuterie from Pico, courtesy photo.\" width=\"700\" height=\"487\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-94840\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Housemade charcuterie from Pico, courtesy photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p5\">PICO&#8217;s seasonal menu is a tribute to the symbiotic farmer-restaurant relationship, using strictly in-season ingredients and primarily showcasing the bounty of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitsyv.com\/discover-syv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santa Ynez Valley<\/a>. Dishes are created based on the food items at hand from local farmers and ranchers, all under the guidance of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santamariasun.com\/eats\/16426\/chef-drew-terp-celebrates-a-year-and-beyond-at-los-alamos-pico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chef Drew Terp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">Terp&#8217;s top-notch credentials include Michelin-starred kitchens from Napa (Auberge du Soleil) to New York City (Alain Ducasse at the Essex House, Masa and barMasa), Spain (under Chef Pedro Subijana at Akelare), Las Vegas (barMasa and Shaboo), Washington, D.C. (Jaleo) and most recently with the now-shuttered Mattei&#8217;s Tavern in Los Olivos. Terp makes all of his ingredients in-house\u2014including the ketchup and mustard.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_94841\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94841\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-94841\" src=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Print_MSH-Seared-Duck-Breast-64_med.jpg\" alt=\"Pico's Seared Duck Breast, courtesy photo.\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-94841\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pico&#8217;s Seared Duck Breast, courtesy photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p5\">PICO recently added a 2,000-square-foot outdoor area with additional seating, a fire pit, a chicken coop, bee hives and raised gardens, bringing the locally sourced menu even closer to home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">With the outdoor area, &#8220;the restaurant&#8217;s eggs come from right outside our back door; our bees will provide honey for our dishes and drinks, as well as our house-made condiments and provisions; and the garden will offer up home-grown herbs and produce, to supplement the fabulous ingredients that we receive from our local providers,&#8221; says Terp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">Current menu highlights include charcuterie (locally sourced meats, house-made by Terp) and cheese plates with delicious bread from the neighboring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bobswellbread.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob&#8217;s Well Bread Bakery<\/a>; starters like pork cannelloni with b\u00e9chamel, manchego and asparagus with house-made bacon and a 63 degree egg, and mushroom salad with bacon and arugula; and entr\u00e9es such as a juicy heart of rib eye, served sliced over crispy potatoes, cedar-wrapped halibut with morels, English peas and Meyer lemon or grilled local <span class=\"s1\">lamb loin with ratatouille mille feuille and polenta.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_94842\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94842\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-94842\" src=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_2085-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Pico's creative menu features approachable Californian cuisine sourced from locally-farmed, seasonal ingredients, courtesy photo.\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-94842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pico&#8217;s creative menu features approachable Californian cuisine sourced from locally-farmed, seasonal ingredients, courtesy photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p5\">As for the wine, Will Henry is co-owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lumenwines.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lumen Wines <\/a>(with esteemed vintner <a href=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2011\/11\/santa-barbara-seasons-presents-the-women-of-wine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lane Tanner<\/a>), and the list includes their labels, along with other gems.
