A Spirited Toast to All Things Alcoholic! By Leslie Dinaberg\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The history of Santa Barbara County’s wine industry<\/a> takes center stage at The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History <\/a>on October 23,\u00a0with an autumn symposium featuring\u00a0an\u00a0all-star panel of Santa Barbara winemakers.<\/p>\n

Panelists include Jim Clendenen<\/a> (Au Bon Climat<\/a>), Fred Brander<\/a> (Brander Vineyards<\/a>), Ken Brown<\/a> (Ken Brown Wines<\/a>), Bob Lindquist<\/a> (Qupe<\/a>), Lane Tanner <\/a>(Lumen Wines<\/a>) and Rick Longoria<\/a> (Longoria Wines<\/a>)\u2014all of whom are pioneers in the industry.\u00a0The moderator is Antonio Gardella<\/a>, a local fine wine specialist.<\/p>\n

Attendees will first\u00a0mingle with the winemakers at a tasting from 1-2 p.m., followed by an hour Q&A and finished with two hours of socializing and tastings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese six winemakers have a wealth of information that they will share with the intimate group of guests and guests will have a chance to interact with all of them during the tastings,\u201d says Meridith Moore, the museum event manager.\u00a0Being in the presence of all of these heavy-hitters in such an intimate setting is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone with the slightest interest in the wine industry.<\/p>\n

The panelists will have their wine on hand,\u00a0as well as additional wines from Zaca Mesa<\/a>, Mosby<\/a>\u00a0Winery and Whitcraft<\/a>. Sweet and savory bites from local food purveyors Village Modern Foods<\/a>, Pete Clements Catering<\/a>, Jessica Foster Confections<\/a>, Pico Restaurant<\/a>, C\u2019est Cheese<\/a> and The Shop Caf\u00e9<\/a> will also\u00a0be on hand.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Beginning: The Early Years in the Santa Barbara Wine Country\u201d takes place on October 23 from 1-5 p.m.\u00a0in Fleischmann Auditorium at the Museum of Natural History’s Mission Creek campus (2559 Puesta del Sol). Tickets are $75 for members and $100 for non-members, and are available now at www.sbnature.org\/tickets<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
