Photo by Leslie Dinaberg.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">It takes an awfully inventive mind to look at a jar of jam or marmalade and envision a cocktail, but that&#8217;s exactly what those clever folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelarksb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Lark<\/a> have\u00a0done, in partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapalafarms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chapala Farms<\/a>, and the results are quite unique\u2014and delicious!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I tried my first &#8220;Jam&#8221; over the summer, a delightful concoction of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ascendantspirits.com\/our_spirits_american_star_ghost_chili_vodka\" target=\"_blank\">Star Ghost Chili Vodka<\/a> (made locally by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ascendantspirits.com\/our_spirits_american_star_ghost_chili_vodka\" target=\"_blank\">Ascendant Spirits<\/a> in Buellton) \u00a0and\u00a0Chapala Farms Plum Jam. Not only was it yummy, with a nice kick of sweet and spice, I also loved the fact that Chapala Farms is an urban backyard farm venture from locals Jason Banks and Michelle Decaris, located right down the road on Chapala Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Lark&#8217;s &#8220;Fall Jams&#8221; have kicked up the fun even further.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_55959\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55959\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-55959 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/clip_image003-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Local &quot;Jam Cocktail&quot; ingredients at The Lark, photo by Macy Kremzar.\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-55959\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Local &#8220;Jam Cocktail&#8221; ingredients at The Lark, photo by Macy Kremzar.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">You really have to try these cocktails to fully appreciate the unique flavors and textures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For fall, Star Ghost Chili Vodka is now combined with\u00a0Chapala Farms Strawberry Passion Fruit Jam for a spicy glass of sweet deliciousness that&#8217;s unlike anything I&#8217;ve ever tasted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We also liked the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgeeats.com\/2015\/07\/sip-this-cutlers-stagecoach-whiskey.html\" target=\"_blank\">Cutler Stagecoach Whiskey<\/a> (from <a href=\"http:\/\/funkzone.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Funk Zone<\/a> local <a href=\"http:\/\/sbseasons.com\/2013\/11\/cocktail-tommies-liqueur\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ian Cutler<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/cutlersartisan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cutler&#8217;s Artisan Spirits<\/a>) with Chapala Farms Cinnamon, Mint, Fig Jam, a perfect holiday libation, as well as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ventanamonthly.com\/article.php?id=849&amp;IssueNum=98\" target=\"_blank\">Wilder Gin<\/a> (from <a href=\"http:\/\/venturaspirits.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ventura Spirits Company<\/a>) and Chapala Farms Tangelo Jam combo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The genesis of these clever cocktails comes from Buffalo, New York, where\u00a0following a visit to a family wedding, Acme Operations Manager <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelarksb.com\/management-cat\/general-manager-dan-russo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Russo<\/a> (The Lark, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.luckypennysb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lucky Penny<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/lesmarchandswine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Les Marchands<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santabarbarawinecollective.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Santa Barbara Wine Collective<\/a>) discovered\u00a0Jam Cocktails,\u00a0conceived at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/buffaloballyhoo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ballyhoo<\/a>, a popular Buffalo bar owned by Tim Stevens and managed by his nephew, Frank Pusateri. That tradition has now continued into the fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe flavors from the jams produce a subtle sweetness and tartness that is different from muddling fruits and other methods. And when combined with our Central Coast spirits they make a great &#8230; cocktail,\u201d says Russo.
