Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care<\/a>\u00a0(VNHC<\/a>) hosted its 13th<\/sup> Annual Mother\u2019s Day Luncheon last week\u00a0at the\u00a0Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara<\/a>. Each year the nonprofit organization\u00a0honors two mothers\u2014one living and one in memory\u2014and celebrates their lives and acknowledges their contributions to the community.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s\u00a0luncheon\u00a0raised a record sum\u2014nearly $350,000\u2014which\u00a0will directly benefit VNHC\u2019s mission to provide high quality, comprehensive home health, hospice, and related services necessary to promote the health and well being of all community residents, including those unable to pay.<\/p>\n

The event\u00a0honored mother and local philanthropist Jill Levinson<\/a>. Guests enjoyed several tributes from her husband, VNHC Board Member Neil Levinson<\/a>, as well as from their children. Jill has devoted herself to many \u00a0local organizations and causes, including the Santa Barbara Children’s Museum<\/a>, Crane Country Day School <\/a>\u00a0and Lotusland<\/a>, among many others.<\/p>\n

Also honored in memory was Barbara Ward Rollerson, who passed away in 1977. Barbara is the mother of Thomas Rollerson<\/a>, founder & recently-retired president of Dream Foundation<\/a>. Thomas shared a video and loving reflections about his mother, who passed away at age 44, and will always be remembered for her unconditional love she had for her five children.\u00a0 As a longtime supporter of VNHC, Rollerson says\u00a0that the Mother\u2019s Day Luncheon\u00a0has always been his favorite event because he didn\u2019t have a place to go on Mother\u2019s Day.\u00a0 \u201cBeing in a room with amazing mothers, staff and board members, I\u2019ve always left here feeling like I had spent the day with my mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-Chairs\u00a0Jodi Fishman-Osti\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0Pamela Dillman Haskell\u00a0welcomed almost\u00a0400 guests to the event, which also included the\u00a0first-ever fashion\u00a0show. Shirin Rajaee<\/a>, Fashion Show Mistress of Ceremonies welcomed guests and showcased the latest spring trends from local boutiques, which included styles from Allora by Laura<\/a>, Bonita<\/a>, Giuliana Haute Couture<\/a>, Indian Summers<\/a>, Lana Marm\u00e9<\/a>, Lola Boutique<\/a> and Lol\u00eb<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Master of Ceremonies Andrew Firestone<\/a> opened the luncheon program with a warm welcome and introduced Lynda Tanner<\/a>, President & CEO of VNHC, who then recognized the many supporters and sponsors of the event, including Premier Rose Sponsors Irma and Morrie Jurkowitz and Union Bank.<\/p>\n
