Courtesy photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last week <a title=\"the Women\u2019s Fund of Santa Barbara \" href=\"http:\/\/www.womensfundsb.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">the\u00a0Women\u2019s Fund of Santa Barbara <\/a>awarded grants totaling $550,000 to nine local nonprofit agencies at its 10th Annual Presentation of Funds Luncheon. \u00a0This luncheon celebrates the end of the annual Women&#8217;s Fund grant cycle, and recognizes and honors its newest grantees, voted on by the membership of nearly 600 women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since it began in 2004, the Women\u2019s Fund of Santa Barbara has awarded grants now totaling $4.7 million to 64 local nonprofit programs impacting more than 83,000 local women, children and families in Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The nonprofits receiving 2013-2014 Women\u2019s Fund awards are:\u00a0<a title=\"Casa Esperanza\" href=\"http:\/\/casa-esperanza.org\/cm\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Casa Esperanza<\/a> &#8211; $50,000 for shelter and support to transition women out of homelessness;\u00a0<a title=\"Domestic Violence Solutions \" href=\"http:\/\/www.dvsolutions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Domestic Violence Solutions <\/a>&#8211; $50,000 for a security systems upgrade and a safe playground surface;\u00a0<a title=\"Legal Aid Foundation of SB \" href=\"http:\/\/www.lafsbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Legal Aid Foundation of SB <\/a>&#8211; $75,000 for a domestic violence attorney for women and children;\u00a0<a title=\"Peoples\u2019 Self-Help Housing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pshhc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peoples\u2019 Self-Help Housing<\/a> &#8211; $50,000 for after-school\/summer educational enhancement programs for children of low-income families;\u00a0<a title=\"Posse Program: Opening Doors to College\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sbunified.org\/districtwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Posse_Program1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Posse Program: Opening Doors to College<\/a> &#8211; $75,000 for a tutorial and mentoring partnership for high-achieving low-income students;\u00a0<a title=\"SBCC: Single Parent Achievement Program\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sbccfoundation.org\/student-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\">SBCC: Single Parent Achievement Program<\/a> &#8211; $90,000 for childcare support for low-income single mothers allowing them to attend college;\u00a0<a title=\"Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sbrapecrisiscenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center<\/a> &#8211; $50,000 for crisis intervention and long-term counseling services;\u00a0<a title=\"Storyteller Children\u2019s Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.storytellercenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Storyteller Children\u2019s Center<\/a> &#8211; $50,000 for a food program for low-income preschool children; and\u00a0<a title=\"Youth Interactive Santa Barbara\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youthinteractive.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Youth Interactive Santa Barbara<\/a> &#8211; $60,000 for entrepreneurial and job skills programs for underserved youth.
