At a time when people are thirsting for\u00a0new activities they can do safely, the\u00a0new Museum of Sensory & Movement\u00a0Experiences (MSME, pronounced miss\u00a0me; seehearmove.com<\/a>) in Santa Barbara\u00a0is a welcome addition to the cultural\u00a0scene.<\/p>\n

The exhibits are all interactive\u00a0and primarily hands-free, \u201cas a way for\u00a0people to still feel connected even during\u00a0this time of social distancing,\u201d explains\u00a0executive director Marco Pinter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pinter hopes in particular to attract\u00a0visually savvy teens and young adults\u00a0with extended evening hours, which he\u00a0suggests are \u201cgreat for date nights,\u201d and\u00a0interactive experiences that are sure\u00a0to be great fodder for Instagram. Each\u00a0visitor is an energy source that fuels
\nthe results, so as they engage with the\u00a0artworks, what they see responds in new\u00a0and unexpected ways.<\/p>\n

Pinter is himself an established media\u00a0artist as well as a prolific inventor with\u00a0more than 70 patents in the categories\u00a0of live video technology, robotics,\u00a0interactivity, and telepresence. Six of\u00a0his installations are on view at MSME.\u00a0Among other artists featured are\u00a0Ethan Turpin<\/a>, Alan Macy<\/a>, Elisa Ortega\u00a0Montilla<\/a>, and Douglas Lochner<\/a>.<\/p>\n
