A new exhibit at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM, sbmm.org<\/a>) spotlights the work of artist of the fleet Arthur Beaumont<\/a>, who\u00a0used impressionist techniques to paint the rich history of the U.S.\u00a0Navy, from the USS Constitution to atomic bomb tests to expeditions\u00a0to the North and South Poles.<\/p>\n

\u201cSBMM is proud to be one of\u00a0only 10 museums in the United States selected to exhibit Arthur\u00a0Beaumont: Art of the Sea,\u201d says the museum\u2019s executive director\u00a0Greg Gorga<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThis exhibit fits in perfectly with our other military displays,\u201d\u00a0Gorga adds, pointing to the museum\u2019s appropos location inside\u00a0the former Naval Training Center building and the area\u2019s rich\u00a0naval history, including visits by the Great White Fleet, the USS\u00a0Constitution, and the USS Ronald Reagan; as well as some of\u00a0the tragedies like the Honda Point Disaster and the Shelling of\u00a0Ellwood Beach. In the last show on the West Coast, the artist\u2019s\u00a053 works are on view from December 3 through May 30, 2020.<\/p>\n
