\"\"<\/a><\/b>After the July 2020 acquisition of Goleta-based\u00a0InTouch Health<\/a>\u2014for approximately\u00a0$150 million in cash and 4.6\u00a0million shares of stock\u2014Teladoc Health<\/a> is\u00a0well positioned in the global telehealth market\u00a0and also a large employer here, with about\u00a0230 positions in Santa Barbara County. Joe\u00a0DeVivo<\/a>, Teladoc\u2019s president of hospitals and\u00a0health systems, discussed the technology, ever\u00a0more important during COVID.<\/p>\n

WHAT DOES TELADOC DO? <\/b>The mission of\u00a0Teladoc Health is to transform how people\u00a0access and experience health-care around\u00a0the world. With virtual care, we are enabling\u00a0patients to access care on their terms\u2014from\u00a0general medical issues like cold and flu to\u00a0chronic conditions, including mental health,\u00a0and complicated medical issues.<\/p>\n

HOW HAS THE COMPANY GROWN? <\/b>Teladoc Health\u00a0was established for what has come to be\u00a0known as virtual urgent care: providing access\u00a0to board-certified physicians via phone, app,\u00a0or website for acute health needs like cold, flu,\u00a0upper respiratory issues, pinkeye, and more.<\/p>\n

Through multiple acquisitions, the company\u00a0not only expanded globally, now operating in\u00a0175 countries, but also added clinical capabilities,\u00a0covering more health conditions across the\u00a0spectrum of care, including dermatology, mental\u00a0health, expert medical services, and more.<\/p>\n

HOW IS THE PANDEMIC AMPLIFYING THINGS?\u00a0<\/b>COVID-19 has exponentially increased\u00a0the number of hospitals and health systems\u00a0utilizing virtual-care platforms as\u00a0well as expanded the use cases for those\u00a0who had already deployed a virtual-care\u00a0platform. While we knew in January that\u00a0the InTouch transaction would play a key\u00a0role in our growth, we couldn\u2019t have predicted\u00a0the level of need it\u2019s enabling us to\u00a0meet for hospital systems now motivated\u00a0to create comprehensive virtual-care strategies.<\/p>\n

Our pipeline with hospitals and health\u00a0systems remains strong for the rest of 2020\u00a0and 2021, set to grow over 35 percent in\u00a02020. Teladoc Health is now partnering\u00a0with more than 60 of the top 100 hospitals.<\/p>\n

WHAT IS INTOUCH FOUNDER YULUN WANG\u2019S\u00a0<\/b>CURRENT ROLE? <\/b>In his capacity as fellow\u00a0with Teladoc Health, Yulun Wang<\/a> will now\u00a0focus on the importance of growing virtual\u00a0health-care opportunities for underserved\u00a0populations around the globe with the\u00a0World Telehealth Initiative. We will continue\u00a0to foster the Teladoc Health relationship\u00a0with UCSB, and we also see expanding\u00a0opportunities for students to participate in\u00a0Yulun\u2019s work with the World Telehealth\u00a0Initiative. \u00a0intouchhealth.com<\/a><\/p>\n
