Lovely, handcrafted works of art,\u00a0the bespoke hats of Ojai-based\u00a0Ninakuru (ninakuru.com<\/a>) are also\u00a0environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

\u201cFelt hats\u00a0are ethically sourced and hand shaped,\u201d\u00a0says founder and designer\u00a0Jennifer Moray (left).\u00a0\u201cI source beautiful\u00a0materials from around\u00a0the world, such as\u00a0vintage grosgrain\u00a0and brocade ribbons,\u00a0leather, turquoise,\u00a0and other finishes,\u00a0ensuring each hat is\u00a0one-of-a-kind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Made of sustainable toquilla straw\u00a0from Ecuadorean rainforests, the\u00a0company\u2019s authentic Panama hats\u00a0are handwoven by master artisans\u00a0in Ecuador before final touches are\u00a0added in Ojai.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe art of weaving\u00a0an authentic Panama hat is such\u00a0a cherished skill and so worthy of\u00a0appreciation,\u201d Moray says, \u201cthat in\u00a02012 the handweaving of Panama\u00a0hats was added to the UNESCO\u00a0Intangible Cultural Heritage list<\/a>.<\/p>\n
