The rad, retro beachy spirit of the 1970s and \u201980s lives on in Hammies\u00a0Shorts (hammiesshorts.com<\/a>). Named after Hammond\u2019s Beach<\/a>, a\u00a0favorite Montecito surf<\/a> spot of co-owner Grant Nestor during his\u00a0formative years, the Santa Barbara-based brand is inspired by the era\u2019s\u00a0classic OP corduroy shorts<\/a>, which Nestor wore long after they stopped\u00a0being manufactured in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

For years, he says, he thought, \u201cIf\u00a0somebody doesn\u2019t start making these shorts again then I\u2019m going to\u00a0have to.\u201d He and his wife Sarah Kozusko started Hammies to bring the\u00a0retro style back, and their timing turned out to be right on trend, with\u00a0short shorts coming back in a big way.<\/p>\n

Hammies are available at Coco\u00a0Cabana in Montecito<\/a> and Canyon Supply in Ojai<\/a>, as well as online.<\/p>\n
