Traveling with your favorite furry\u00a0friend? The handy Cork Hounds website\u00a0and app makes your hunt for dog\u00a0friendly vineyards especially easy.\u00a0Search for pooch-pleasing vineyards and wineries\u00a0throughout the U.S. with the free database.<\/p>\n

Founders Peggy Mihelich<\/a> and Jeremy Glesner<\/a>\u00a0created Cork Hounds in 2016, after a weekend\u00a0trip to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. \u201cIn addition\u00a0to exploring this historic town \u2026 we wanted to\u00a0visit some of the vineyards,\u201d explains Mihelich.<\/p>\n

It was a cold and windy March day and with\u00a0Bentley and Greta (their dogs), there was no\u00a0way they could sit outside and taste wine. Trying\u00a0to figure out which vineyards had dog-friendly\u00a0tasting rooms took \u201clots of Google searches and\u00a0quite a few U-turns \u2026 I thought, there has to be\u00a0an easier way! Wouldn\u2019t it be great if there was a\u00a0website, one place, where we could just find out\u00a0all this information, so we\u2019d know before\u00a0we go?\u201d<\/p>\n

Glesner, a technology executive in the Washington,\u00a0D.C. area, responded, \u201cI can build that!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mihelich came up with the name Cork Hounds,\u00a0the domain was available, and they bought it\u00a0that weekend.<\/p>\n

With so many wineries going to the dogs in the past few\u00a0years, Cork Hounds\u2019 directory now contains 5,662 vineyards\u00a0and wineries and 1,406 dog-friendly tasting rooms, across all\u00a050 states.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting to travel to various dog-friendly vineyards and wineries\u00a0across the U.S is probably the best part of running Cork\u00a0Hounds,\u201d says Mihelich. \u201cWe\u2019ve attended wine-dog charity\u00a0events; these experiences have not only shown us that people\u00a0love bringing their dogs to wineries, but also that our service\u00a0is loved and appreciated by dog owners and winery owners.\u201d<\/p>\n

She believes, \u201cBy welcoming owners and their dogs, people\u00a0stay longer and have a better time. They enjoy themselves\u00a0more because they have their dog(s) with them, and they\u00a0don\u2019t have to rush home to take care of the dog(s). With so\u00a0much competition out there, vineyards and wineries who turn\u00a0away customers with dogs are losing out.\u201d corkhounds.com<\/a><\/p>\n
